Heard the Dakota had been flying over the last few weeks - record crowds, etc.
Went to take a look. They weren't kidding.
It was enormously busy and a whole lot of fun. Both rooms were full of people
and atmosphere. A really good night out.

went down to dakota last saturday and it was another massive night. the venue is
ok to look at (nothing special), but saturdays are killer; some real hotties as
far as the women go and pean rock bigtime... one of the few bands that actually
plays tool and stuff like that if ya ask them. i'll be back again in a few

We swung by Dakota last Saturday night. Big night! Huge night!
The place was jam packed and the party was in full swing.
Pean are on holiday (last week and this week) so Metrik lept in to take their
place. I hadn't seen Metrik for a while but they were brilliant. Easily
the best band set I have seen for a year!
That's a big call, but they deserve it.
What they did well was to not try to play dance music, but they played the best
rock from the past few years. Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Tool were all on show. The
place was just rocking.
Its tough for bands at the moment, because there's only dance music in the
charts. Whilst I think party bands like Adam12, Louie + the Party Boys and 23
Past are great, there's something about seeing Metrik or Slumberyard play some
genuine rock. Okay, the tunes are dated, but you know every one and they are
classics.
I didn't really follow the recent debate on this site about bands, but Metrik
made it clear on Saturday. Good job.
Anyway, Dakota is huge on Saturday at the moment. You are guaranteed a good
night there every Saturday. Check it out.

Just realised I hadn't reviewed the Saturday night beach party at Dakota the
other week... It was a very big night. Dakota has been on fire for several
months now, and is a great night out.
Commercial favourites in the main room, and housey stuff in the side bar. Good
music! They've added a cage alongside the DJ booth, which locks away the show-
offs. The spa was entertaining for some. The pics are on the photos page.
It really is a good night out. They have a quality entertainment lineup and the
right attitude. Check it out some Saturday soon.

Headed over to Dakota on Saturday. Another big night there. That place is on a
roll, with both rooms working nicely.
Pean has a couple of new members. They sounded okay, and I'm assured they are
easy on the eye.

I have to say, I love it when I walk into a club, that feels like a club, that
has the atmosphere and spirit to boot. Most of the places I've been lately have
had that. Its much better than a bar.

Massive crowd at Dakota. They could not have jammed another person in. I've seen
it busy there before, but nothing like this.
The atmosphere in the place was simply unbelievable. People were jumping around
in both the main room and the side room.
Pean and Alby kept the fire stoked in the main room with top 40 and RnB. The
house DJ in the side room had it going. That room is really working now.
Dakota is going great on a Saturday right now. If you're out that way, its worth
a look.

ever seen it, and a very lengthy queue for most of the night.
Being that busy, the atmosphere was awesome. Pean and DJ Alby were creating a

Swung by Dakota, after dealing with a spider and frightened Claudia, to check
out Pean's 1500th show. Not a bad night. Dakota was busy enough, and it was a
pretty good fun crowd. Big mix of ages from 18-30, with most 22-27. As DJ Alby,
new to Dakota said: "it was a lot like the Hallam".
Pean were in good form. They had a great time as the photos prove. Definitely a
bit of fun.

Saturday at Dakota was mad! Couple a Melbourne Alive Party with a visit from the
Fat Pizza crew, and it was just chaos. The Fat Pizza boys (Pauly, Rocky & Habib)
were great fun. They signed everything, did lots of photos, spent ages hanging
out in the crowd, then jumped on stage for a jam with Pean. It was madness but
great.
The crowd was pretty decent too, in every respect. Very friendly! Great night!
Just wait for the photos. They'll be up soon, hopefully later today, and check
out the eyes on the girl in the purple and aqua top. Spectacular.

The boys from Fat Pizza are at Dakota, so we’re going taking Melb. Alive to
them.
Dakota Saturdays are extra large, and this week, Pauly and Rocky from Fat Pizza
are dropping in for a visit, so we thought it was the ideal time to hold a Melb
Alive Party, a pizza party!
The boys will be there for you to meet, to sign autographs, join you in photos,
and generally run amuck. They will have full support from coverband Pean, and
DJs Johnno Earl and Rob E. It should be a lot of fun. For Melbourne Alive, you
also receive VIP entry before 11pm if you mention “Max Moose”. Fully sick!

Even though Melbournians aren't into rugby, the great Aussie win seemed to hit
clubs hard. Word is that most places were quiet. Dakota wasn't too bad. Johno
Earle and Pean were in fine form.

Dakota was packed on Saturday. They tell me it has been for the past few months,
with a queue most weeks after midnight.
Pean were having a great time. The main room was going off to a mix of all era
favourites.
I really enjoyed the recently renovated Catalina Bar. It was quiet enough for a
chat, loud enough for a dance, and a great atmosphere. The crowd was mixed ages
from 20-26.

Sat night rocked for me, although it not as cRaZy as other Sats (which was
good). Gotta get me some of those HOT busies again, PEAN were great too,
especially the singer.

Saturday was enormous at Dakota. I arrived at 12.30 to find a massive queue.
Inside was very busy. Good crowd too. Mostly locals age 18-28, reasonably well
dressed, and no trouble.
The Catalina Bar has come up well, and was pretty busy.
Deanne Nissen, Inside Sport covergirl, signed a few posters, and there were
promo girls everywhere, including the lovely Jim Beam girls.
Pean were in great form, really getting the place jumping. DJ Johnno Earle
pulled out some great tracks too creating an electric atmosphere. Altogether a
good night out.

Yeah, we were right about the Inside Sports model appearance at Dakota on
Saturday. Deanne Nissan will be dropping in to meet you and sign stuff.

(who we took pics of at Star Bar last Sunday).

It was a strange night around the traps. Nowhere really peaked, possibly because
of the change in daylight savings.
Dakota wasn't too bad though. The main room was full, and the side bar is closed
for renovations which open in the next week or so.
The crowd was primarily 20-25, and in a pretty bubbly mood. The music is
commercial, with a band.
It is usually Pean, but they are on holiday, so Huge took their place. They were
actually very impressive. Very similar playlist and sound to Slumberyard, but a
less crazy attitude.

The RnB night wasn't totally successful, and is no longer. With East 93 closing
its doors, Pean now comes to Saturdays at Denim Lounge.

Fresh Saturdaze hit the D Lounge from tonight November 30. It will be Ringwood's
only true commercial RnB night, with the crew from Whateva calling the shots
(Mothership, Boom Boom Room, Karma, Homebass, Brown Sugar and Chicago). Can't
wait.

Got the flyer for the new night @ the D lounge, im sad cause i've been enjoying
the bands there for awhile now. Just started to get into their new resident band
C540, great music i've heard they are going to brassmonkey on a tuesday, might
give the D lounge a miss for awhile and go to monkeys instead. hope the C540
boys pop up locally again soon, so i don't have to travel so far to see good
bands

saw c 540 @ denim lounge and i must say they are building on something that
makes them stand apart from the others in the industry. For a 3 peice they have
a huge sound with no midi tracks too. Can't wait till they get a gig @ a bigger
venue, where they can play loud..

i went to see c540 on saturday night and those guys are amazing its a shame they
are changing the night to r and b cause those guys are the best cover band by
far.it features the drummer and guitarist from blimp 69 they are playing on the
19th at brassmonkey and its unfair they are not on the advert cause they are way
better than lime and they will show that.

Will that mean no more c540, coz that would suck. Saturdays at the denim are
just starting to get good again, That band rocks. To replace them would be
really bad. I travel with a group of friends from pearcedale every week to see
em'.
