I made it to Bills pretty late. There were a few celebrities and footballers
about, but I am told most were there earlier. I don't know, but that's what I'm
told.
I have to say, though, the band, Krunch, were really, really good! I haven't
seen an impressive band (other than Crazy Haus, Adam 12 or Metrik) for ages, but
Krunch were right up there. They have a great playlist (slightly harder edge
than the others), a great sound, a good attitude, and the girls love 'em.
The little guy Kim was talking about was cool. He must have been about 11, but
played with the band for a couple of songs.

soz i didnt say it right i didnt mean it was crap coz it IS a great cause i jus
mean it was a bit dodgy of wild bills to make out like a ton of these ppl were
going to be there then barely any actually showed... i hate it when clubs do
that coz it happens alot!

came and left pretty quick, and early.
I think calling it crap is sad. It was a good cause, the band were great
(especially the little kid) and the DJ was ok.

Did anyone else think wild bills tsunami fundraiser was crap?! I never saw no
milsy or anyone else except that couple from "my restraunt rules". I was so
bored i left at 1am. Did milsy turn up when they closed or what?

This Tsunami Appeal night sounds pretty awesome. I heard that Frysie and Krista
Vendi have been confirmed as guests too. Good cause, big names, and there's

Hey everyone, I'm back from Queensland. Thanks to Scott for keeping the site
bubbling away. The nightlife in Surfers and up north of Brisbane on the Sunshine
Coast was pretty good. Brisbane was dull. I'll give you a detailed report soon.
Just wanted to say that this Tsunami Appeal event at Wild Bills is going to be
pretty huge. Celebrities are falling out of the trees to join in, with more
adding their names by the hour. Aside from being for a good cause, it ought to
be a very good party. Hope to see you there.

Sorry I've been quiet lately, but I haven't been hitting it so hard. Interesting
little night at Bills on Friday. Extremely young crowd in, and lots of fun and

Dropped by to see the new line-up with Lime and DJ Disco Dave. Not a bad little
night. Been running for a couple of weeks now. Lime are fairly reasonable on
stage, although they seemed a little weird on Friday. We'll wait for the night
to settle before we fully judge it, but it wasn't bad. Fair type of crowd too.

Wild Bills have recently revamped Fridays. They have tried a few things over the years, but the latest innovation is doing well. You see, they are making it into a real dance party, with the odd celebrity or fashion parade. Gone are the bands, in come the DJs, and they are doing it with a harder edge than their other nights. Whilst there is still plenty of commercial dance, RnB, and favourites, you will also hear some vocal house tunes, driving basslines and beats. If you hate the bands on Wednesday or Saturday interupting your dancing, and want something harder, Fridays are your go.

From time to time they have a celebrity there, often a TV star, footballer, or model. This adds to the intrigue.

The music mix, and style of the night mean that it attracts a different type of crowd. It is clubbier, but they can take themselves a little too seriously and are not as talkative. You get people who are there to dance. They dress accordingly (more clubby), and there is definitely a higher proportion of girls. Most of the crowd is aged 19 to 28, with an average age of about 22.

The crowd gets in reasonably early, mainly due to the drink specials. It is two for one drinks between 9 and midnight! That'll do the trick. As such they arrive from 9pm. It is busy by 11, and peaks around 11.30. It stays busy until 3 or so.

Wild Bills is one big room, in a funky western theme. At the entrance, you walk through a huge bull skull. To the right is a vieing balcony, in western theme, and some booths for milling around. To the left are some pool tables, and tables for sitting. At the back are some stairs, and an area that can be used for private functions. There is a huge oval bar in the middle, with a stage above it for the dancers. At the far end is a dancefloor and stage for dancing, or live acts. The DJ booth is way above the stage, and a couple of video games.

The dancefloor now rocks to latest commercial dance, house, and RnB. It is so much dancier now. The enhanced lightshow complete with lasers really adds to the mood too, giving it an atmosphere in the realm of any city club.

The covercharge is fairly standard, although it is worth finding a pass for free entry before 10, or $4 after. Drinks are very cheap courtesy of the two for one promo before midnight.

Bills Friday is a very positive change from their other nights. It offers something different, for a different crowd, and if you hate bands, you are in heaven. Wild Bills Fridays are now a real dance party, with driving basslines and great beats, and a decent lightshow. Worth a look.
