James and Chantel, Family has made way for Vooque. Family was a club run night,
not a promoters night, so it isn't moving, its just vanished.
The night was going well, but Seven saw an opportunity to rebrand the night in
line with market research. It isn't changing much.
Max Moose, MaxMoose, Fri Aug 19 17:07:27 2005
Chantel, I'm on their Email list and don't recall seeing anything to suggest
that. I might be wrong, but I think I probably would have noticed that.
James, Thu Aug 18 00:58:06 2005

This Saturday 31/7 DJ BLADE from JESTOFUNK
Jestofunk was born in 1990 after the meeting of three Italian DJ's: Claudio
'Moz-Art' Rispoli, Francesco Farias and Blade. Together they produced "I'm Gonna
Love You", which at the time was a sort of revolution in Dance music: for the
first time funk was incorporated with house in a perfect fusion. The first
single was then followed by "Say It Again", "Can We Live" and in 1994 by their
first album "Love In A Black Dimension". 1998 saw the release of their second
album 'Universal Mother' featuring, among other gems, 'Special Love' sung by
Jocelyn Brown.

I wouldnt call it a relaxed place to go cos most of the people there have their
noses in the air. Seems like a place where people go and try to impress people
with what they are wearing rather than going for the music. Not a relaxed
atmosphere
Jo, Bentleigh, Mon Nov 24 15:48:37 2003
Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I swung by Seven the Saturday before last. Not
exactly my style of place (people trying a touch too hard to be something else),
but the venue and the music are nice.
Crowd age 23-30. Fairly dressy, fashionable a better description. Ideal for
Hawthornites who went to Room when it first opened.
Tunez: House throughout, varying from relaxed to harder beats. Cool house
verging on RnB in the side room.
One of the Melbourne clubbing experiences that is worth having, but the crowd
may not be your style.

April 14, 2001
I really am not the sort of person who is into house, techno or anything like it, but Logic at Seven almost converted me. The spirit and attitude in the place was awesome, and nobody really cared about anything other than the music.

The people there are very wide ranging. Its not your freaks and steroid heads, but everyday people of all ages, and a whole lot of DJs. Most of the crowd roll in about 3.30, after the suburban clubs close at 3am. This is when the DJs at those venues come out to play. They bring their friends, and a whole lot of the people who just have to party all night follow them along. You end up with a crowd that appreciates the music.

That sort of theme flows through the whole venue. The dress for the night is hard to define. It is more of an attitude thing. Dress to dance, not to pose.

Seven is two levels. Upstairs is the more popular of the two levels. There is a lounge room, where you can kick back and talk to people, and the dance room. This dance room has a large bar, a round DJ booth, and a dancefloor. It gets quite packed in here. The dance floor moves to a range of progressive vocal house, through to R&B. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard Blackstreet's "No Diggity". All the tunes are great.

However, it is downstairs where I wanted to be. The tunes are much deeper. The room is long and narrow. A long bar at the back, a DJ at the front. Everyone dances facing the DJ. The room is very dark, except for the awesome light show. The dancefloor is simply magnificent. It is impossible to not start dancing. It is impossible to dance gently. You go mad, and everyone respects it, because they end up doing the same. It is a unique experience.

The downside, if there is one, is the price. $13 at the door, or $9 guestlist. It is pretty steep, but worth every cent, just for the atmosphere. Bar prices seemed fairly normal.

Logic at Seven was one of the more unique clubbing experiences I have had. Great beats from start to finish, and more dancing than I had done in ages. The whole thing works. If you like music with a bit of attitude, and a venue with atmosphere, check out Logic.
