Popped in to the opening of Fluoro Saturdays. Interesting and fun.
For the first time in ages, the music gave me a buzz. I'm sick of hearing all
the same tunes everywhere I go. This is different. Yeah it has the current dance
tracks from the charts, but they've added in heaps of stuff from the '90s. Its
fresher than 70s-80s retro, great to dance to, and mixes in with current stuff
pretty well.
(some music examples)
Additionally, it was the best ratio of girls to guys I have ever seen in a
Melbourne venue. The girls were loving it: Spice Girls and glow sticks.
It was a mix of age groups, but a good type of crowd - not pretentious, not
losers, just a nice level above average.
The 90s era music is going to make a comeback sometime, like 70s-80s did ten
years ago. I don't know whether Fluoro is ahead of its time for everyone else,
but I'm ready for it. If you are too, get on down for a look.
