Saturday @ Pulse
Ventured in to take a look at Pulse on Saturday. Right off the
top, it is a great looking venue - very well put together, and the staff are
incredible. I've been to so many venues, but never one where every staff member
is so friendly and happy to be there. That alone generated a good atmosphere.
Its hard to know how to rate the opening. It wasn't packed, but it wasn't dead.
It was heaps bigger than the Nu Hotel's opening. The crowd was much better
looking and friendlier than I expected. Mixed ages - from 20-30s. Take a look at
the pics.
The entertainment was pretty good. The band, Sanity, were good value. Played a
good mix of rock and pop. The lead singer did a great job of Robbie Williams. A
security guard jumped on stage and sang a song with them (unexpectedly) - funny.
The upstairs DJ was very good. Heaps of current commercial house and top 40.
Dropped in "What is love" out of the blue; half the crowd did the "Night at the
Roxbury" dance - hillarious. Downstairs DJ seemed to be playing retro, rock, RnB
reasonably well.
I didn't have lofty expectations, but have to say I had a really, really good
time at Pulse. It was just sooo friendly and entertaining. Give it a go.
